WSP-series Premium Connections

Oil-Tech can offer WSP-1T, WSP-2T, WSP-3T, WSP-FJL(4T), WSP-NF6,WSP-NF4, WSP-HOOK(5T), WSP-BIG(6T) premium connections. The application scope for premium connection includes 2 7/8-20 in, suitable for the steel grade N80, L80, C90, T95, P110, Q125 and special steel etc.

WSP-1T and WSP-2T

In extended-reach wells or horizontal wells, casing often encounters obstacles and can not be run down unless rotated or forced. Regular API connection can not meet the requirements in such critical environments and stronger connection with higher strength to resist torque and compression is needed .WSP-1(2)T is just designed for this purpose. The connection has excellent gas seal performance and the metal to metal radial seal is reliable even at high torque, high compression and high bend load. Its running torque is 3 times of the common connection and can meet the requirements in such critical environments.

Structure and performance
  • Coupling connection type, the connection strength is no less than that of pipe body;
  • The connection designed with two steps torque shoulders has excellent compression resistance and over-torque resistance;
  • Excellent gas seal performance: Main seal adopts taper to taper seal structure ,unique metal to metal radial seal is reliable at high pressure and combined load;
  • High connection strength: Thread is improved buttress thread with high connection efficiency, which is easy to process, same as API Buttress;
  • Superior over-torque resistance;Running torque is 3 times of the common makeup torque because of the two shoulder design;
  • Outstanding compression resistance: The WSP-2T connection provides the compression resistance no less than that of pipe body and beyond its elongation;
  • After makeup and under internal pressure, the circular stress on the connection is lower, which enables the connection suitable for sour environment;
  • Excellent anti-galling performance is achieved form the suitable design of seal and thread interference;
  • The internal wall of pipe body flushes with that of coupling. Flush mating of internal walls reduces the turbulence magnitude of gas and liquid inside, so lower the energy loss.

WSP-3T

WSP-3T is another new connection, with a significant feature of interchangeability with HSC, VAM and NEW VAM.

Structure and performance
  • Coupling connection type, the connection strength is no less than that of pipe body;
  • Thread is improved buttress thread with high connection efficiency, which is easy to process;
  • Main seal adopts taper to taper seal structure with negative angle torque shoulder to provides reliable seal ability and equivalent internal pressure resistance with pipe body;
  • The negative angle torque shoulder improves the connection capability of bearing combined load;
  • Excellent anti-galling performance is achieved from the suitable design of seal and thread interference;

WSP-FJL(4T)

WSP-FJL (4T) is designed with extreme-line thread without coupling. The internal and external walls of connection flush with the walls of pipe body, which improve the cementing clearance. This kind of connection has the shortcoming of lower connection strength, which is only about 50-60 percent of the pipe body's. To improve this performance, WSP-FJL (4T) adopts hook type thread, which can increase the connection strength above 60% of the pipe body's, and realize the excellent gas tight performance as well. WSP-FJL (4T) is mainly used in small-clearance well cementing and repairing operation. The significant feature of WSP-FJL(4T) is its interchangeability with VAM FJL.


Structure
  • Max clearance design
    • Without coupling, screw thread made on pipe; the inside & outside diamater of the connection totally flushes with pipe.
  • High connection efficiency
    • Screw thread is hook type thread;
    • Bearing surface angle:-3°;
    • Leading surface angle 25°;
    • The connection strength is 60% that of the pipe body.
  • Multi-seal design
    • Torque shoulder seal is assist seal and taper to taper seal is main seal, the seal ability is excellent.
  • Anti-torque performance is excellent
    • The outside torque shoulder designed with-15° negative angle torque shoulder and inside torque designed with right angle torque shoulder bear the torque synchronously.
  • Inside align design
    • The inside diameter of the connection and that of the pipe are the same so that no turbulence magnitude exists when liquid flowing inside the pipe.
Usage performance
  • Connection strength--hook-type screw thread improved the connecting efficiency;
  • Seal performance--the main seal of taper to taper and assist seal of torque shoulder make sure the connection with multi seal structure has high security seal ability and the inside stress resistance are equal with the pipe body;
  • Multi-load resistance--with the hook type screw thread and outside negative angle & inside right angle torque shoulder, the joint has high capability to resist the compression, bend and over-torque load and keeps excellent seal performance under bend and multi-loading;
  • Inside-align design reduces the turbulence magnitude of gas and liquid inside, so lower the energy loss.
Operating performance
  • Easy makeup--25° angle leading surface screw thread is gently and easy to make up correctly and it is convenient to operate on oil field;
  • Antisticking buckle--repeated making up and down is allowable.

WSP-NF6

WSP-NF6 is also designed with extreme-line thread without coupling. The joint is upset to realize the connection strength to the same as pipe body's strength. The connection adopts cylindrical thread without interference so the stress on the connection is low, and anti-galling performance is excellent. At the same time the connection strength can reach to the strength of pipe body with excellent seal performance. It can be used as production tubing, especially in corrosion environment. The properties of WSP-NF6 is close to HYDRIL PH6.

  • Connection is no coupling type, the pin and box threads are processed on pipe ends;
  • Joint external upset;
  • Loading surface angle 7.5°, leading surface angle 20°, the connection strength can reach to the strength of pipe body, 6 teeth per inch;
  • Main seal adopts taper to taper seal structure;
  • External shoulder is designed with -60°negative angle, internal shoulder is rectangle shoulder;
  • Surface treatment: both pin and box threads needs phosphorizing.
Performance
  • The connection strength can reach to the strength of pipe body;
  • Gas tight performance reaches to internal yield stress of pipe body;
  • It is permitted to makeup and breakout repeatedly.

WSP-NF4

WSP-NF4 is also designed with extreme-line thread without coupling similar to WSP-NF6. The distinct performance is that the upset end of the connection enables the connection strength reach to the strength of the pipe body. The connection adopts cylindrical thread without interference so the stress on the connection is low, and anti-galling performance is excellent. At the same time the connection strength can reach to the strength of pipe body with excellent seal performance. It can be used as production tubing, especially in corrosion environment. The properties of WSP-NF4 is close to HYDRIL PH4.

WSP-HOOK (5T)

The distinct structure of WSP-HOOK (5T) is of hook type thread with taper to taper seal, the surface finish of seal is improved with the shorter seal. This connection has high connection strength and excellent seal performance even under high tensile and bending load.

  • Thread is HOOK type, loading surface angle:-3°, leading surface angle:10°;
  • Main seal adopts taper to taper seal structure;
  • Torque shoulder:15°;
  • Surface treatment: phosphorizing or cooper plating on internal tread, no treatment on external thread.

WSP-BIG (6T)

The distinct structure of WSP-BIG (6T) is bigger lead, higher teeth, taper 1:8. It is easy to makeup without error. This connection is useful for bigger pope of more than 14 inch OD.

Structure
  • Buttress threads, loading surface angle:90°, leading surface angle:30°, teeth height: 2.15 mm;
  • Thread 3 teeth/inch;
  • Taper 1 : 8;
  • The crown and bottom of the thread is parallel with axis of pipe;
  • Surface treatment: phosphorizing or cooper plating on internal tread, no treatment on external thread.
